When we talked about garment
related any topic, our first question comes in mind is what is garment
marketing? In one sentence, we can say that “the persons who specially involved
in garments trade”. As we know, market means an open place where people attend
to buy or sell any goods. On the other way, market means selling any products
of a company to the customers by advertising or presenting by any
representative.
Now we can say that, selling any product of a company to the respective buyers by advertising or presenting by any representative in best possible way is called garment marketing. We can say another way, the processes to exchange ownership of goods between buyer and seller. In apparel industry, the main activities of marketing is to create the relationship between the customers and attract new people to the product. Marketing person introduces new product and manufacturer company to the buyers through marketing.

Marketing person assigns to meet
the domestic customers demand and overseas customers demand. Now-a-days demand
of marketing is going to be increased day by day. In Bangladesh, there are two
ways marketing conducted:
- Some marketing’s are conducted by buying houses.
- Some marketing’s are conducted directly by ready-made garment industries.
- FOB (Free on Board)
- CFR (Cost & Freight)
- CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight)
Actually, department of ready-made
garments started since 1976. At first garments company received their export
order from abroad and faced problem to export the goods. After overcome all the
problem, they were able to export the goods. Presently, garments industries
purchase their raw materials through back to back L/C against their master L/C.
In 1976, bank had no back to back L/C in their system. That’s why after
receiving L/C, full raw materials had to purchase in cash, then export the
goods abroad as usual. After that, for the purpose of necessity and by pressure
of garment owners, government is compelled to introduce back to back L/C.
